In response to increasing scrutiny of Disney attractions, the attraction's final scene of tribal people would be removed in the spirit of removing "negative depictions of native people". The vessels then drift down a narrow stream past ancient Cambodian ruins which have been claimed by the jungle. Up ahead several crocodiles are seen resting on a small beach, while a school of hungry piranha are jumping in the hopes of attacking the guests. The boats escape into Africa and pass a large safari camp where several curious gorillas have discovered clothes, guns, hammocks, and books, as the "Trashin’ the Camp" song from Tarzan plays on a nearby 1930s radio. The African Veldt comes into view, where antelope, giraffes, zebras, and African elephants stare at the boats.
Passengers then glide precariously under the first of a pair of stone arches severely damaged by an earthquake centuries ago. These are part of the ruins of an ancient Cambodian city where a crumbling temple is one of the few things which have managed to avoid tumbling into the river. Here passengers see an Indochinese tiger, giant spiders, king cobras and mugger crocodiles. Passing a statue of a bowing elephant, the boats pass under the second arch and enter the Sacred Indian Elephant Bathing Pool. Here a large herd of Indian elephants frolic and squirt water at the passing vessels.

Albert Awol is a fictional Jungle Cruise boat captain and disc jockey for the Disney Broadcasting Company. Considered the "Voice of the Jungle", he broadcasts everything from news, to quizzes, reminders, weather, etc. on the DBC (Disney Broadcast Company). He also serves as a period disc jockey for the station, filling the airwaves with music from the 1930s depression era.

We boarded at Pier 46 in San Pedro, which the cruise port only uses if the main piers (91, 92, and 93) are occupied. As we walked from the bus parking lot to the ship, the size was large and impressive. At the time, it was the largest ship for Celebrity, but the Edge class has since surpassed it, which launched in 2018. This is the second time we’ve sailed on a Celebrity Solstice-class ship. The first time was on the Celebrity Eclipse in 2019 when Karen and I sailed to Hawaii on our honeymoon. During the summer, the Solstice repositions to Seattle to offer 7-day Alaska cruises before moving to Asia for the winter.

We enjoyed the nightly shows in the Solstice Theater, but if you want something less-formal, check out the other venues. You’ll find the Sky Observation Lounge at the ship’s bow, one deck up from the pool area. Enclosed with floor-to-ceiling windows, it provides a quiet spot to read or take in the scenery when there are no activities. In warm weather destinations the sunset bar allows you to enjoy your drinks with those perfect wake views. Located a deck up, the Ensemble Lounge often gathered a crowd to listen to live music in a darkened room. At the bow, the Sky Lounge offered drinks based on your zodiac sign, which cost USD 12 if you didn’t have a drinks package.

We booked an inside cabin on the Solstice (Cabin #1031), and this was my first time not being in a veranda stateroom. Inside cabins can vary significantly across cruise lines and even within a ship. Celebrity Cruises Solstice ship belongs to company's Solstice-class liners, with sisterships Eclipse, Equinox, Reflection, Silhouette. Solstice is fleet's first Solstice-class vessel (launched on August 10, 2008), with inaugural cruise/maiden voyage on November 23, 2008. Royal Suites also provide separate living and sleeping areas, and they have separate tubs and showers in the bathrooms, full wet bars and glass-topped dining room tables. What Celebrity does provide is a raft of options within its rooms. Inside, oceanview and balcony are all available, as are various tiers of rooms that come with their own perks and dining rooms (Aqua and Suite class).

Sometimes the baked pastas featured peas, which my dog and I happen to love. Anyway if, like my son, you’re not a fan, there was a make-your-own-pasta bar with a variety of noodle, sauce, and topping choices. HEAVY ON THE CHEESE, HOLD THE PEAS (that would be my son’s order). Remember the baked pasta I mentioned when I was supposed to be talking about the jogging track? There’s a meat version and a veggie version and it’s served with crispy garlic bread.
While many lines have cut live musicians, there was still a seven piece orchestra on the Solstice. And they were fabulous in all the main stage performances I saw. Bathrooms have roll-in showers, ramped thresholds and lowered fixtures. Suites feature the services of a butler, who will, among other chores, assist in the moving of heavy luggage as well as packing and unpacking.
Celebrity has now installed private cabanas on the Lawn Club, which guests can rent for a day or less. If you are fortunate enough to be in a suite cabin, you are eligible to dine at Luminae Restaurant. The décor is upscale, and the venue is open for breakfast, lunch (on sea days), and dinner.
